Employment Permits – Lineworkers

In September of 2023 it was announced by the Minister of State for Business that a new quota with respect to a General Work Permit of 100 permits for lineworkers would be introduced into the system.

The Employment Permit Acts require Non-EEA workers, unless exempted, to have permission to enter and be in employment in Ireland.

The work permits system include a list of ineligible occupations detailing employments which will not qualify for a permit.

This occupation type concerns a specialised position regarding electrical & distribution facilities in maintenance and construction.

Persons seeking work permits in these occupations can now seek a General Work Permit which can issue for 2 years and is then subject to renewals.
