Afghan Admission Programme

A scheme has been introduced for Afghan nationals residing in Ireland who can apply to have family members join them in Ireland.

The person can apply for up to 4 members of their family to join them. The applicant must reside in Ireland and from before the 1st of September 2021.

The family members you are seeking to join you in Ireland must reside in Afghanistan or move to a neighbouring country after August 1st 2021.

Examples of family members who you can seek to have join you in Ireland are children under 18, spouse, civil partner, parent, vulnerable adult etc.

Application Form

You will need to have your IRP/GNIB card detail, detail of your residency in Ireland, start date, length of time, accommodation/income details, beneficiary details etc.

If your application is granted, then it is necessary for the family members on the application form to apply for a visa.

Family members who come to Ireland as a result of the programme can get Stamp 4 permission which includes permission to work. Such family members should register with the Irish Immigration Service and seek an Irish Residence Permit card.
