An academic who is a Non-EEA citizen who wishes to come to Ireland as a visiting academic can seek temporary permission to live and work in Ireland on a Stamp 0 immigration permission.
The timeframe of this permission is of a temporary nature.
An application is made to Stamp 0, Visiting Academic Section, Domestic Residence & Permissions Division of Immigration Service Deliver for this permission type on form TPR1.
Evidence of finances will need to be provided with the application to include payslips / bank statements for a 6 month period.
The Irish University must also confirm the working circumstance to include the length of service.
Confirmation from your existing home university explaining the position you have at that university and confirming how your salary will be paid while in Ireland must be provided.
This is a short term immigration permission type which can last up to 12 months.
Evidence of private medical insurance and a police clearance cert are also important to obtain.
This application can assist lecturers on a sabbatical.
If the applicant obtains a Stamp 0 conditional letter of offer then visa entry checks are still required.
Visa required persons must apply to the visa office in Ireland to enter the state.
Non-visa required persons may travel to Ireland with their conditional letter of offer and entry is decided upon by the immigration officer. The person should also have the signed agreement form.
Once in Ireland the person must register with the immigration officer for the local area district they reside in.
