Irish Citizenship Application – Passport changes

Since the 20th of April 2023 a new requirement has been introduced with respect to the supply of Passport identify proof in naturalisation applications.

Providing a full passport to the Minister for Justice is no longer required.

Now it is the biometric page of the persons passport that is required to be provided with the application.

This should be a colour copy and should be certified by a solicitor, commissioner for oaths or peace commissioner.

The department can still request the persons full passport.

The effect of this will also mean there is less paperwork for the applicant and the Minister in this application type.

In January 2022 it was introduced wherein applicants could submit a full certified copy of the passport identify, but this task has been streamlined by just the requirement now for the certified colour copy of the biometric passport page.
